Why can't I finish installing yahoo messenger?

Alright, I'll start from the beginning. I had been running version 6 of yahoo messenger. My internet connection was recently disconnected (for about a month) and when I finally got reconnected (through the same ISP) My yahoo messenger would say that the operation had performed a runtime error. I restarted my computer multiple times thinking it might have been some fluke in the program. Well it continued to shut down everytime I signed in. So after getting tired of that, I decided it was time to delete version six and install the newest version. Well I downloaded the msgr8us.exe program and began to run it. The installation will make it to 4% and say "Download of file has been cancelled or interrupted. File not completely downloaded." Then it says "The file C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Installs|ymsgr8us.exe could not be opened." Can anyone tell me what's going on? I've disabled all firewalls to troubleshoot the problem, but no dice. Please help!

Why can't I finish installing yahoo messenger?
You have to fulfil these requirements:

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 or later

Pentium II 233 Mhz or better (500MHz recommended)

Minimum 64 M B RAM for Windows 98 and ME

Minimum 128 M B RAM for Windows 2000 and XP

Minimum 30 Mb disk space needed to install

Additional features such as Calling, Webcam, and Yahoo! Music, require:

Windows Media Player - 7 or higher or higher

Webcam - Messenger compatible

A microphone, sound card, and speakers or a headset

The only feature that may be in question is premium Yahoo! Voice services which states the system requirements for phoneout as being Windows 2000 / ME / XP. Something they haven't mentioned above is that Macromedia Flash Player which is still required, it's an Avatar requirement, Yahoo! Games requires Java to be enabled.........
