Can my computer be saved?

a few days a go i downloaded an animated wallpaper it came with file that i ddnt see (winferno) and then my computer crashed now whenever i close a folder this message comes up:





"Microsoft visual C++ runtime library





runtime error!





program: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.EXE





this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. please contact the application's support team for more information."





and if i click close or ok it closes all programs and refreshes my desktop. how can i stop it or get rid of it.





and my computer keeps turning off with no warning and takes a few attempts to turn it on again.





please help

Can my computer be saved?
Start your computer in Safe Mode and remove the wall paper. The problem might not be the file, but that the animated wallpaper is interfering with explorer.exe. To start in safe moe, press F8 as the computer is starting. You computer will start as normal, but with minimal graphics and minimal processes. Change the wallpaper to something basic, like the Windows XP meadow.
