Windows XP?

I get a visual C++ runtime error " abnormal termination ) when trying to open some of my software programs such as my printer menu. The menu opens but the programs with in it will not. I have read about a lot of people having this problem but no solutions. Anyone help?

Windows XP?
run chkdsk /r and say y to reboot on restart. If no joy, use windows system restore point and pick a date prior to the problem.

Reply:Get yourself Vista, XP is full of bugs, its probally just starting to go. Windows is like that it is programmed not to last in order for you to upgrade...upgrade!
Reply:Most tech questions require a back and forth dialogs to answer. Is this old software that you are running on an XP machine, or vice-versa? Their is a trick to make XP to run older programs by simulating the older operating system. Right clicking on the programs icon (not a shortcut) will get you to a menu that allows you to run the program as an older OS like 98. That's the easiest thing to try first.

You can also go to the hardware makers website and get the latest drivers for the device. Also a least destructive easy fix.
