What does runtime error mean?

pc say program c/program files/symantec/live update/at update exe.Application has requested the runtime terminate in an unusual way contact applications support.help beginner and clueless

What does runtime error mean?
Runtime error means that an error occured when a program was trying to execute a command.
Reply:runtime info can be found on the internet
Reply:A " runtime error " is a bad file name or number error in Java Script. In other words, the script can't find the file it's looking for, likely bacause of a connection problem. If you clear your " temporary internet files ", that should solve your problem. But, if it doesn't, contact the web site's administrator, as there could be some issues with the server for the web site. Hope this is helpful.
Reply:dont worry ....restart ur PC and retry.........if it still occurs reinstall symantec
Reply:It could be nothing, according to Symantec's website. A case of stuff happens. What I would do is restart the computer then try to force a live update and see if it works.

OR

Has your subscription to Norton/Symantec expired? It could be that you need to renew it before it will update. On new computers, you only get a 30-60 day trial before you have to buy it.

If it isn't expired, I think what I would do is uninstall and reinstall symantec on your computer. Before you do anything, make sure you have the disk to run the symantec program installation.

Go to control panel%26gt; add/remove programs. Find the Symantec or norton software on your computer and uninstall it.

Then restart your computer and reinstall norton/symantec from the disk. Make sure after this that you go on the web and get all the updates.

If it is an expired subscription, you may want to download a free anti-virus program like avast at www.avast.com (use the home edition). Good luck!
Reply:AS previous answerer said re-start PC if persists re instal Synnatec software the error means that the process started has timed out for taking too long
