Uninstalling / Reinstalling Microsoft Word?

Whenever I run Microsoft Word it usually comes up with C++ Runtime error. Well anyway the only way to fix it is to uninstall and then reinstall Microsoft Word. Does anybody know how to do this. Please describe in great detail as I am not a very technical person myself.

Thankyou all info is appreciated.

Uninstalling / Reinstalling Microsoft Word?
Honestly, try out OpenOffice.org. It offers a free program that is practically an exact legal duplicate of Microsoft Word. It comes with Excel, Powerpoint, Word -- anything Microsoft Office would come with. Very few/no errors, easy to use program, extremely versatile and compatible, and the only true differences are the name and the color scheme. You can save your documents as either open office format, word format, and loads others. May be easier than dealing with Microsoft's errors.
Reply:I believe with Microsoft Office products if you have the actual disk or install file then you can just reinstall and it will unistall/reinstall for you.
Reply:hit start%26gt;control panel Add remove programs.

choose word, then click uninstall. restart.

insert office cd. on instalation, click custom. choose only word, then install
Reply:Before you uninstall - Read this. There is much more easy-to-read information at the source link. (FYI - to use Detect %26amp; Repair, you have to be in a Word document and click Help.)

"– Of course, there are rare occasions where none of these fixes actually fix your problem, so you may have to uninstall and reinstall Word. If you have Word 2000, 2002 or 2003, you can go to the Help menu and run Detect and Repair and this will fix many problems.

If you can't get into Word at all, you can go to your Windows Control Panel and double-click on Add/Remove Programs and double-click on Microsoft Office in this list and you will see an option to repair Office. Both of these require the Office CD to complete. However, if this still doesn't cure your problem or if you are using Word 97, which does not have Detect and Repair, you will have to uninstall and reinstall. Notice that I said to uninstall first because problems of this severity are rarely fixed by simply reinstalling the application over top of itself. And, another thing to know about Microsoft Office programs is that uninstalling them does not completely remove them from your system, so if the part of the program that was causing the problem has not been removed by uninstalling, it will still exist after reinstalling. To avoid this, Microsoft offers free downloadable Eraser Utilities to completely remove Office from your computer. I highly recommend you run the proper eraser after you uninstall and before you reinstall in order to guarantee a clean install. There are links to the Eraser utilities for both Office 97 and Office 2000 at my Office page: http://personal-computer-tutor.com/offic...

Reply:Hello;

If you have the MS (Microsoft) Office disk, depending upon the version of Office you have, you should have the option of installing or repairing an office installation. I'd try the repair option first, if that does not work, go to your computers' control panel (start %26gt; settings %26gt; control panel %26gt; add/remove programs. When the add/rem progs panel comes up, find the word program, and uninstall it... it may also prompt you for the original Office CD, so have it handy. After the product is uninstalled, open the CD tray and push it back in (leave the CD in there; this will activate the installation program for the Office CD... some versions of office allow you to install components, (individual programs, rather than the entire CD), while others do not... if you don't have this option, try "Custom" installation, and simply choose the program you want.

I've never had the problem you describe, and I'm always experimenting with troubleshooting scenarios on my home network... if I can be of further help, feel free to IM or email; mac01843.

I hope this helped!
