every time i start up my pc i get an error message that reads:
runtime error!
program: c:/program files/internet explorer/iexplore.exe
can anyone explain what this is or know why it is happening???
Runtime error on start up screen?
(Only relevant if you have google toolbar setup.)
I googled your error message %26amp; found several people who said that they resolved this problem by uninstalling google toolbar. If you have google toolbar set up then you can do this via the control panel:
Start-%26gt;Control Panel-%26gt; Add/Remove programs
From there uninstall google tool bar, reboot and test to see if the problem continues.
Reply:Hello,
(ANS) The file "iexplorer.exe" is the executable file that loads or runs Internet Explorer browser and as such it means there is a code level error inside the executable file (its a programming level program). It probably means the file is either corrupted or damaged. Meaning it needs replacing with a clean fresh copy of the same file.
**Depending upon which version of Internet explorer you are using (refering too), for example if your using IE6 on XP then you cannot un-install the browser entirely because its an integral part of windows and the operating system. However, if you do have the installer file for IE then you can run this once again and the set up process should give you the option to run a repair of the browser.
**Normally IE isn't loaded up on windows start. I wouldn't recommend have IE (the browser) as a start up item when windows loads? This seems a little odd to me, so I would check that your PC isnt infected with a virus or boot sector virus.
**If you do have anti virus software on the machine, try running it if possible. Or load windows into safe mode and run the virus checker from a command line otherwise.
**If you don't have any anti virus software installed I recommend you get hold of AVG Free its an excellent program free for personal use.

Hope that helps?

Good luck!
Reply:If you have Google toolbar installed, get rid of it. I have done some checking and people who had this same sort of error fixed it by getting rid of that toolbar.
Of course, as someones else, said this means that IE is starting when your computer starts. But do you get this same error when you try to run IE by itself? If you don't then simply remove it from your starup and the error will of course go away. If you can not run IE at all and you have that toolbar installed, get rid of it.
