Computer memory help?

Ok, I have a DELL Inspiron 600m laptop and recently I have been getting messages that say "Windows Low on Virtual Memory".

Then today I was trying to type something up in Microsoft Word, and a message came on the screen that said " Microsoft Visual C++ Library" as it' title and then it said "Runtime Error! Program : C: \Program Files\Microsoft Office\ Office 11\ WINWORD.EXE , abnormal program termination.

I deleted some programs and things, but that still didn't work. Does anyone else have this problem or know what is wrong? What should I do?

Computer memory help?
Try switching off some of the icons on the lower right of the screen! You may be running too many programs at once! If not, check your RAM count in MY computer! What is happening is your computer is trying to use memory from your hard drive! You may have a small hard drive, so utilize it well! If you have less than 512MB of RAM, try to get it to that number at least. Try to think about the programs that you really don't need, and uninstall them! Music videos, music, movies, pictures etc, think about those too! You more than likely can be suffering Internet clutter with temporary files, so go into the control panel, switch to category view and go into performance and maintenance . Clean your hard drive up! The number one reason why most computers slow down and start acting funny, is the lack of maintenance. Take care of your computer, so you can enjoy it for some time to come!
Reply:Increase the size of your pagefile. Here's how: Right-click on "My Computer" and click "Properties". Click the "Advanced" tab, and under "Performance" click the "Settings" button. Under the "Advanced" tab, under "Virtual Memory" click "Change". Here you can change the size of your pagefile. Choose a custom size and make it larger than your current settings. I'm not sure if it matters, but try to make the numbers a power of two. For example, 256, 512, 1024, 2048. This should eliminate any error messages about virtual memory.
Reply:Sounds like your machine is coming to the end of its career.

Your Hard drive may be failing. (common file access errors.)

Your Ram ma be failing (normally that results in a BSOF.)

Hard drive space is at a premium and the system has no room to write the swap file.

Desk errors are part of hard drive failure. (back up your personal files and reinstall to a new hard drive)

Regardless back up your personal files
Reply:you have to much software running at one time is the problem you need to buy more ram put more in the pc then you can run a lot of software at the same time
Reply:wat u need to do is buy more RAM which makes ur computer faster and able to run more programs at once.,.. when RAM(basically called virtual memory) gets low ur comp starts to go slow and cant run many programs at once so if u get more RAM and maybe some more hard drive space you should be fine.. hope this helped ya
Reply:You must upgrade your computer memory module

I believe you should get at least 1GB and that way you will definitely wont get that message
