How to remove 'Windows Media Format 11 Runtime'?

I'm trying to uninstall media player 11. Browse through similar qns, but no answer helped.

I have successfully remove media player 11 from 'Add/Remove Programs'. Tried to remove 'Windows media Format 11 runtime' but the following error occurs 'It is not possible to uninstall Windows Media Format Runtime as the folders required have already been deleted'. I have no idea which folders they are referring to.

Alternatively, tried to install media player 10 and this message pop up: 'This version of Windows Media Technologies is incompatible with this version of Windows. For more information, view the information at the Microsoft web site.'

Followed the instructions stated in the other thread by downloading 'wmploc.dll' to C:\windows\System32 and reinstall WM 10 but the same message pop up.

I'm using Windows XP Profession SP2.

Can anyone pls advise on my query? Thanks.
