My computer may be infected with a SubSeven Trojan Virus??

Hello,

.....for over a year now i have been playing online with battlefield 2142, but over the past year i have been experiencing some strange problems.

I have been mainly having problems with my c: drive but over the past few months every time i am connected to the internet and playing online the computer has been known to restart and freeze a lot!(which it never used to do)

Sometimes a message pops up:

"Runtime error 216 at 51F29FF6" always pops up in a small conversation window titled "error"

then, if i clicked "OK" or close the window, this will pop up:

SDTrayApp.exe-Application Error

The instruction at "0x51f29ff6" referenced memory at "0x014d4e54". The memory could not be "read". Click "OK" to terminate the program. And when u press ok, it goes in a big loop again.

I'th looked online and found that it is linked with a Trojan Virus,

in scanning with spy doctor and AVG but after 1 hour, nothing so far (there both the free addictions). what should I do now?

My computer may be infected with a SubSeven Trojan Virus??
Download and update the avg antivirus and download the spyware doctor below the shut your computer down and restart it and tap the F-8 key repeatedly while the system starts up and select safe mode and run the avg and the spyware doctor while in safe mode, This will catch it so you can remove it,

Reply:First, I'd recommend you visit Microsoft's official respone to this error [which offers very useful links on how to verify if you are infected or not with SubSeven].

If you prefer to skip Microsoft's website you could go to Symantec's one which has a excellent resource on SubSeven and how to remove it:

Note: This link is also available in the Microsoft article.

if you are still having trouble removing the trojan, then you have one other option left, that I can think of off hand:

%26lt;FIRST%26gt; Reboot PC and keep tapping F8 key until you get a list of options to choose from.

%26lt;SECOND%26gt;Select SAFE Mode with Network support

[Note: Icons on desktop will appear large and possibly blurry because in Safe Mode windows uses a lower resolution]

%26lt;THIRD%26gt; Log onto internet and download latest anti-virus defintions for software you currently own or use, or go to a online antivirus scanning site such as Symantec's one: http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/home.... or download a free antivirus programme such as AVG's one: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-fre... and install this and run it while still in Safe Mode.

In Safe mode only the core elements of Windows are run, thus pesly things like trojans ought not run at all, hence giving you a chance to sort the problems out without the hacker causing you grief at the same time.
